Mr Koschel has been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and supporters are raising money for him to achieve his life-long dream of visiting his ancestral home of Ireland.
Ararat Theatre Company, Ararat Musical Comedy Society and Ararat City Band held the concert on Sunday at St Andrew’s Uniting Church Hall.
Organiser Patricia Joy said the concert went really well.
“It was fantastic. We raised $1400,” she said.
“We had 70 people attend. Doug was very surprised by the number of people who attended and it really lifted his spirits.”
Ms Joy said the fundraising campaign had now met three quarters of its goal.
“We still have the gofundme going if people want to chip in,” she said.
