The Storm contended with windy conditions to slot 10.14.74 to 1.2.8 to easily account for the home side and get back on the winners list.
Storm coach Krystal Cameron said it was an improved performance from the whole team that made the different.
“It was a nice consistent four quarters, good for the girls to get their confidence back up,” she said.
“We tried to just focus on the stuff we know we can do, we mentioned the mental stuff at training but from last year’s standpoint, we are not quite there yet on the field.”
Ange Stoneman kicked four majors while the forward had some other new faces up there with Cameron spinning the magnets and moving players around the ground at different times.
“Lauren Sykes and Renee Soultis did well again in the middle,” Cameron said
“All the players are all good runners, but sometimes they are not doing that.
“Some are better than others, but that is just confidence, so that will come over time and I do not think it is too far away.”
The Storm had an improved defensive effort, keeping their opponents to just the one goal and Cameron said it was something she was pleased to see.
“We made an emphasis on the defensive stuff, from there we move forward and it was probably a bit scrapper than we would have liked but they were really good moving it out of there,” she said.
The new players are starting to gel with the players and have shown potential, something that was recognised with an even team performance on Sunday.
Cameron said it was never going to happen overnight.
“We have some new players and some of them have never played football before, so it will take time and just getting them to know each other,” she said.
The Storm will return to the Grampians for their home game at Great Western on Sunday, starting at 11.30am.
