The home team looked good from the first bounce with the Swans caught napping in the early stages, as the Rovers put early scoreboard pressure on the visitors.
The Swans managed two goals in the first term while the Rovers kicked eight goals straight to open up a comfortable margin at the first break.
The second term was much the same with the home team gaining more confidence as the game went on.
The visitors scored four goals in the second quarter but were unable to restrict the Rovers’s scoring and went into the long break 40 points down.
Six goals to two in the third term for the Rovers put the match beyond doubt, eventually finishing 22.12.144 to 13.13.91 winners to cement its spot in the top four.
Former Central Highlands Football League forward Jarryd Underwood bagged six goals in the win alongside former Ararat Eagle Nathan Wemyss who kicked four majors of his own..
Tim Langdon also showed plenty of promise in front of the big sticks to finish with four goals while Sam Munro kicked three to round out the multiple goal kickers for the home team.
Justin Nowell and Daniel Boyle combined for nine of the Swans’ 13 goals.
John Forbes was named the best on ground for the Rovers in their first home game of the season.
