The events company is currently locking in locations for the 2016-17 Carnival Tour, which will take in more than 10 sites across Victoria including Mornington, Doncaster, Ballarat, Yarrawonga and Gippsland.
Fresh off the back of attracting 50,000 people to its inaugural carnival in Berwick, co-ordinator Mark Lipshut said it would be a fantastic opportunity to compliment the town’s activities across the busy weekend.
“The benefit to the racecourse could be enormous as we can essentially create four major race days, rather than just the one on Easter Sunday,” Mr Lipshut said.
“We wanted to focus more on areas that are distanced from Melbourne, but have the people and infrastructure to support the event.”
Mr Lipshut said the carnival could also be an opportunity for local businesses to promote their trades.
“There will be $20,000 worth of contracts for local groups so the carnival will also provide that economic benefit to the town.
“We are currently finalising an app which will contain a whole database of local suppliers.
“Stawell has fantastic local produce, and here food is something everyone can relate to and build around.”
As well as promising the best food trucks in Australia, the carnival will invite food personalities and have magicians, clowns and acrobats on show.
“Whether you’re eight or 80, there is something for everyone to enjoy at these carnivals and it really adds to the whole weekend of festivities for locals and visitors in Stawell,” Mr Lipshut said.
Stawell Racing Club newly appointed operations manager Mark Percival said the event would be a fantastic concept.
“Stawell Racing Club is always open to opportunities that fit in with our philosophy of offering family events,” Mr Percival said.
“Like any new idea it will have to be discussed with a committee.”
