Bushwalking will continue on Fridays, with walks to include Cathcart Cemetery, Spring Lead Cemetery, Crossing Mt Ararat from Rocky Point to Moyston Road and other walks.
Walks will be held on October 26 and November 3,9 16 23 and 30. Meet at the Guide Hall (Alexandra Hall) at 9am with walks taking around three hours approximately. The leader is Margaret Farrer, contact her on 5352 2127 for details.
Frank Kitchen leads the popular sessions on British history.
This term the course will look at the lives of some of the people who made a contribution to Great Britain. Participants will study the social conditions at the time and sessions will look at: King Edward 1 who expanded the kingdom into Scotland and Wales 1271-1307; William Tyndale who translated the Bible into English and enriched the English language 1492-1536; Oliver Cromwell who beheaded a king and established a Republic 1599 -1658; John Wesley who founded the Methodist church and gave poor people hope 1703-1787; Lord Nelson the admiral who took on the French and ensured that Britannia ruled the waves, died 1805; John Wilkinson industrialist who built out of iron. Railroads, bridges, the first iron boat 1767- 1805; David Lloyd George the Prime Minister who won the First World War 1914-1918; The course will be held on Wednesdays through to December 5 at NMIT from 9.15am to 10.15am. Keith Little leads the popular Climate Change course.
The aim of the course is to study the science of energy warming the atmosphere and the short and long term effects. At least eight people are needed to run this course, which will be held at 10.30am on Wednesdays at NMIT.
Tutor David Mitchell leads the Learn to Turn woodturning course.
Enjoy turning with wood to make a wooden biro, a bowl or whatever you can make with a lathe. Amaze your family and friends with your handcrafted Christmas presents.
