The Hawks showed no mercy as they recorded a big 27.12.174 to 3.3.21 win.
They booted seven goals to none to open the first term and never looked back from the strong start.
The Eagles did not register a single score and could have been even further behind if not for inaccurate kicking by their opponents.
At the first break the Hawks had kicked 7.5 to effectively end the game inside the opening quarter.
The Eagles rebounded in the second to finally find a score – kicking a goal to get off the mark – but it made little difference as the Hawks continued to find easy opportunities for their forwards.
They kicked six goals in the second, followed by two seven-goal hauls in the third and fourth quarters.
At the other end the Eagles could only manage two goals for the second half.
Steven Butler booted six goals for the Hawks but was also well supported by coach Adrian Pilgrim who kicked four.
Harry Ganley and Tyler Cronin kicked three each.
Nicholas Bulger, Frederick Stokes and Brent Bulger were the goalkickers for the Eagles.
The Hawks were missing several players from the clash but had regained Sean McDougall.
He had an immediate impact in his return to the line-up.
He dominated clearances at the stoppages to set his team up with forward 50 entries.
Pilgrim said he was pleased with the four quarter effort from his team had put ahead of the Mininera and District league finals that start on Saturday.
“To kick six or seven goals every quarter was really pleasing,” he said.
“We were conscious we didn’t want to have one big quarter and drop away.
“We consistently had 10-12 scoring shots each quarter, a lot more inside 50’s so that was where we really wanted to focus on.”
The Hawks locked in top place on the ladder with the big win which also delivered them a week off for the first week of finals.
Pilgrim said it was perfect timing and would allow some of the club’s injured players time to prepare for their first big clash.
“There were probably seven or eight players out who are still recovering,” he said.
“They will now have an extra week to get ready for finals.
“We are confident we will have a full list to pick from for the semi-finals.”
The Hawks will play the winner of the qualifying clash between Wickliffe-Lake Bolac and Lismore Derrinallum in the semi-final.
