Concept designs for the road will be available to residents.
They will have to opportunity to help VicRoads understand key planning issues.
The meeting will run from 3pm to 7pm on Wednesday.
Acting regional director Bradley Pryor said it was an opportunity for the public to share their views.
““We’ve gathered some valuable feedback over the past 12 months from landowners, key stakeholders such as council and the wider community, which has helped us develop our design concepts,” he said.
“This session will focus on access and connections with the Pyrenees Highway and the Western Highway south-east of Green Hill Lake and we welcome input and local knowledge.”
Mr Pyror said the exact route for the bypass, which will run north of Ararat, has not yet been decided.
“While we have not finalised a route or options for a bypass, we would like to show people our designs and work with them to develop our plans, which will ultimately help us determine final routes for consideration,” he said.
“The designs we will have on display will show the community how we are responding to and incorporating comments, feedback and requests gathered to date.
“I encourage people to come along, share their views on these key bypass connection points and any other ideas they may have so we can work to deliver what the community needs.”
Ararat Rural City Council announced its official support for a northern route at its April meeting.
It considered eight priorities for building the bypass.
This includes a connection to the Pyrenees Highway, full diamond interchanges and over or underpasses at Warrak Road and Saw Pit Flat Road.
The northern edge of Ararat includes major employers such as the abattoir and prison as well as the motorcycle track.
Council also identified the area for industrial development in its long term strategic planning.
