The final score was Eagles 72 to the Lions 33.
Great Western made positional changes after a first quarter smashing to inject some movement through the corridor and more importantly in the goal circle.
Courtney Morrow, playing in the unfamiliar role of goal attack, was gaining plenty of possessions but was unable to convert on the scoreboard.
Ararat’s lead pushed out to twenty-three at the main break.
Great Western found it difficult to penetrate Ararat’s defence, making it difficult to add to the scoreboard. Brooke McKenzie worked hard at goal shooter for Great Western and, on most occasions when she received the ball she was accurate, but she lacked opportunities.
The difference had pushed out to thirty-six at the final change over. Great Western showed persistence in the last quarter in what was probably their best for the match.
