Breeding balanced sheep at Melrose revolves around utilising all tools available. These include independent outside opinion and advice from renowned sheep classers, using Australian Sheep Breeding Values and indexing in a considered approach to aid in classing ewes and selecting sires for breeding. ASBVs are an estimate of an animal’s true breeding value based on pedigree and performance recorded information.
All Melrose rams are sold with Merinoselect ASBV’s as well as raw data, so clients can buy without having to guess how the animal and its progeny will perform.
The Russell’s philosophy of balance is a blend of technology and tried and true methods of breeding sheep.
This balanced approach achieves measured improvements with and animal that will breed predictably, profitably and true to type, every time.
There will be 48 rams for sale during the on property sale on October 14, with inspections from 10am and the action to commence at 1pm.
