Byrne won the A grade best and fairest while Rosie Weatherly received runner up for the second consecutive year. Both ladies have had a fantastic year polling well in the Mininera League vote count and Byrne, who was also part of the interleague team, finished off the season by topping the Association’s leading goal scoring. She scored 705 goals for the season.
Although Rovers’ A grade netballers did not make finals, they remained a competitive side throughout the year. Returning to the court again for Rovers, Jade Hamilton was this year’s B grade best and fairest. Hamilton had a great year, playing multiple positions on the court and leading by example.
Newcomer to the club, Tessa Scott was B grade’s runner up, showing skill and determination in the goal circle. Another new Rovers player, Kirsten Embritz was this year’s C grade best and fairest winner after having a stellar year in defence while club president and C grade coach, Karina Cromb received C grade’s runner-up award.
For the second consecutive year, Courtney McCrow took out 17 and under best and fairest award with another newcomer to the club, Demi Wright receiving runner-up. Both girls have had an excellent year and have also been part of the regular line-up for the A grade side. To add to Courtney’s honours, she was also part of this year’s interleague side and also polled well in the league’s goal scoring tally.
This year’s ‘Barbara Bibby Perpetual Trophy’ for most improved junior player was awarded to Olivia Mulcahy.
Olivia, a dedicated player, worked hard on her skills this year which further improved as the Rovers saw her become a regular position holder, not only for the 17 and under squad but also for the senior B grade team.
