The council’s work together to build a strong economic and social future for the region and work collaboratively on issues and advocate for projects of mutual importance to make a positive impact on communities in our region.
I have also been appointed the Chair of the Community Liaison Group for the Ararat Wind Farm.
The group comprises local members of the community and members of the Ararat Rural City, Pyrenees Shire and Northern Grampians Shire Councils.
The group is a strategic level, two-way consultation group for dissemination of information between Ararat Wind Farm and the community and to provide Ararat Wind Farm with an understanding of any issues of interest or concerns within the community.
It is great to see businesses already benefiting from the wind farm construction.
The recent announcement by the State Government for the new North West Rail Link is exciting news for Ararat and will provide great opportunities for employment, trade and primary producers.
Major works are expected to commence in the second half of 2016 and 270 jobs will be created during construction.
The forward planning that went into the feasibility study for a Transport Hub in Ararat can now be seriously considered and council will continue to lobby this initiative to the State Government.
Council is also thrilled to announce that the tender for the construction of the Change Room and Kiosk Pavilion at the Ararat Outdoor Olympic Pool has been awarded to Fixed Maintenance Pty Ltd.
The new building will include change facilities and a kiosk for the Outdoor Olympic Pool and accessible public toilets for the Alexandra Gardens.
This multi-use facility will be a great asset to the gardens, improving the precinct and offering accessible facilities for visitors.
