The two Workco apprentices received awards at the Federation University 2015 TAFE Division Awards for Excellence in Ballarat.
Matthew Harrington who is serving his apprenticeship with local plumbing firm Hogan Plumbing and Gasfitting Pty Ltd received the Rotary Club of Ballarat South Scholarship Fund for gaining a distinction grade in his certificate three plumbing course.
His employer Jarrod Hogan said it was great for Matthew to receive the award.
"He really applies himself at work so it's great to see that he is also getting recognition in his trade school," Mr Hogan said.
Jesse Bennett who is currently studying a certificate three in carpentry and employed with local builder John Wilksch, received the Robert Sim Building Supplies Award.
Federation University's Graham Andrews recently visited Jesse and to present a builder's spirit level in recognition for him winning the award.
"It is great for Jesse to win the award, he is an excellent student and a pleasure to teach," Mr Andrews said.
Both apprentices are placed with their host employers through the Workco group training model that supports local employers in taking on people in trade apprenticeships.
