The Ararat Junior Tour is the first event of four in the Cycling Victoria Junior Aggregate series.

Categories range from junior 11s through to men's and women's 17s.

Time trials for all grades will be held on Saturday morning beginning at the Moyston Recreation Reserve and moving out along the Rhymney Road.

Saturday afternoon will see the main road racing events take place, with the under-17 groups completing two laps of the 30-kilometre circuit which takes in Carroll's Cutting, Norval Dam and Rhymney Road.

Cyclists will complete the circuit again on Sunday.

More than 150 entrants from across the country including South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria will descend on Ararat for the event.

Five local riders from the Ararat and District Cycling Club will be taking part include Alice Culling, Jordie Argall, Alex Van Opstal, Sophia Van Opstal and Lara Van Opstal.

Trophies will be presented at the conclusion of the event.

The perpetual trophy to the 'King and Queen of the Mountain' has once again been donated by Greg Carroll. An integral part of the tour's circuit is Carroll's Cutting, which is named in honour of Greg's great grandfather, Hugh Byrne Carroll.

The trophy is created by Ararat craftsman and ADCC secretary Harold 'Bull' Culling.
