The occasion drew a large crowd of past players to witness the event and brought back memories of events from last year's grand final week to many supporters.
The game highlighted the MDFL pacesetters, the Pumas, who overcame a luckless Ararat Eagles with skilled football providing a clinical demolition of the opponents.
The youth of the reigning premiers ran riot to chalk up a massive victory. A key feature of the game was the umpiring display of Sonny Walton in his first senior effort, a much needed exhibition to the game from a very talented ex-footballer.

Tatyoon supporters are a little peeved at their omission from last week's finals contenders I thought they were a permanent fixture by their finals appearances over the last two decades.
On early observations, 2015 is looking towards a repeat of last years' grand final participants.

Club recruiting officers have been extremely busy with 116 outside players coming into the league and 19 inter-club transfers.
This exceeds transfers out and retirements.
Although there has been a large influx of players to a couple of clubs, it has not promised the immediate forecast returns.

Ararat Eagles' under 16.5 side has held an unblemished record in the home and away series since their last loss on August 28, 2012, but that all ended on Saturday at the hands of the junior Pumas.
The final score being Moyston/Willaura 7.10 (52) to Ararat Eagles 2.0 (12).

The MDFL has been a family orientated league over many years. Supporters hope it will remain in this manner, but the prevalence of recreational substances infiltrating sport requires a need by the League to introduce protocols for obtaining qualified assistance by football administrators and players referring any incident.
Ask your GP or VicPol officer if the availability of substances is in your community and you will obtain a resounding affirmative.
It is not an issue confined to one club or to one league it's state wide.
From a club's point of view it is looking after players and player welfare.
There is no point sugar coating the issue, it is going to continue into the future.
