A number of volunteers have come on board and the group has also received grants to enable the work to be carried out.
The Scout group and volunteers held a working bee at the hall recently, painting the inside, thanks to a grant from the RSL Community Grants Program, with paint donated by David O Jones Ararat Mitre 10 and Bulte Timber and Hardware in Ararat, while the Lions Club of Ararat will pitch in and makeover the kitchen and internal toilet and storeroom with new cupboards and floor coverings.
A Pacific Hydro grant of $1115 will enable the outdoor toilets to be upgraded and the working bee also saw plumber Jarrod Hogan attend to re-roof the toilet block.
Cub leader Belinda Graham is hoping the group can also secure a grant for sporting equipment as currently there is no sport equipment available for the Scouts and Cubs.
"We are really trying to get the community involved in some of the projects," Ms Graham said.
"Some people in the community don't even know that the Scouts exist here in Ararat."
As well as promoting Scouts to the wider community the group is also trying to attract a new Scout leader.
The group meets on Tuesdays, with the Cubs and Scouts combined to ensure Scouts don't fold.
"We need the community to come on board and we are hoping to look for people and community groups to act as sponsors to keep the Scouts going in Ararat," Ms Graham said.
Cubs and Scouts resume for 2015 on Tuesday, February 3, with Cubs meeting from 4.30pm to 6pm and Scouts from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
Anyone who would like to check out Scouting for themselves is welcome to call in during meeting times or contact Belinda for further information on 0400 514 582.
