The man is believed to have been armed when he was shot in the leg about 7pm.
Police will not say whether he was shot by an officer but have confirmed they were called to an incident at the man's address on Saturday evening.
The man was taken to Peel Health Campus with non life-threatening injuries, but police said he may be transferred to Royal Perth Hospital.
A section of Myerick Street is closed while forensics officers scour the property.
At this stage it is not clear why police were initially called to the home which is occupied by the injured man and his wife.
Investigations are continuing.
