To 9am yesterday morning 89.7mm had been recorded in Ararat, bringing the yearly total to 220.1mm, which is much higher than the 140mm recorded to the end of June last year.
The rain gauge has recorded strong readings for both May (43.2mm) and April (59.5mm) which has helped boost the totals so far this year.
Winter temperatures have finally hit the region this week as well, with maximum daily temperatures hovering between 9.9 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees over the past week.
