The 11.8 kilogram monster recently took out the heaviest pumpkin section at the annual St Arnaud Pumpkin Pageant.
While unable to attend the Pageant himself, Mr Reid's neighbour Katrina Harvey took over three of his pumpkins to enter the competition, with the winning pumpkin easily beating the previous record of eight kilograms.
Mr Reid said this year he wasn't able to look after his pumpkins in the usual fashion.
"But whatever I did this year it worked out right," he said.
With his pumpkin patch yielding such large pumpkins, Mr Reid is going to be kept busy making soup and other pumpkin inspired recipes to use up the glut of produce he has.
"Katrina is also going to save the seeds and package them up to sell for a charity," he said.
