President Colin Readman said the Devils were trailing 4-6 at half time before producing a strong second half to run out winners at Caleys Oval, 32-10.
“We blitzed them, it was great. It’s the first time we’ve beaten them out of four games,” he said.
Readman praised the efforts of captain Johnny Rameka, Chris Geard and Tem Hawkins, who scored three tries.
“Everyone played really well together, it was great,” he said.
Readman said it was pleasing to see so much support for a local rugby league team.
“We had a really good crowd, heaps more than we expected,” he said.
“It was awesome really.”
The Devils will travel to Mildura to contest their next match on August 4.
They will play two home games at Caleys Oval on August 11 and 25.
Readman said the team will draw a number of raffles on August 11 as a fundraiser for the club.
“We’ve also had Pearse Shearing come on board as a sponsor, to help us buy our new jerseys, which is great,” he said.
Readman encouraged people from Ararat, Stawell and the surrounding district to get along to a game and support the team.
“Also, if anyone wants to play they can come down and have a game,” he said.
