Hosted by Felini Health and Fitness, organiser Kelli Holtham-Felini is encouraging the Ararat community to attend and support the BCNA, the peak national organisation representing and supporting Australians affected by breast cancer.
Ms Holtham-Felini is herself no stranger to breast cancer, having battled the disease last year after being diagnosed in April.
'Rockers for Knockers' will feature the sounds of four bands: Last Stand, Black Rose, The Spatts and Church of the leaking Chicken, with a goods and services auction ongoing throughout the night.
Black Rose features Dave McMillan, Scott Felini, Neil McKenzie and Pat Calvird and formed as a group of friends, all between the ages of 16-18, more than 25 years ago. They were into 80s' heavy metal but played a lot of hard rock doing pub gigs and 21st birthdays, anything that came their way. Black Rose was quite short lived lasting about two years until life and life changes happened and they disbanded. They came back together in 2012 as a request from Scott Felini to play at his 40th.
Dave and Neil have never stopped playing and continued with various bands, eventually they formed their own band along with Dan Power to become the Spatts.
The Spatts played throughout Victoria from the early 90s through to about 1996, all mates from the local area whom had been in other bands but then decided to form their own and play the music they liked. Anything from Rockabilly to pop to heavy rock, their line-up has something for everyone. The band got back together again a few years ago for the '50 years of Wimmera Rock' event, and have had requests for gigs ever since.
Church of the Leaking Chicken features Peter 'Lumpy' May, Denis Madjar, Justin Pendergast, Paul Gunovich and Mark Hughes.
The band has been put together especially for Rockers for Knockers. Mark Hughes had told some musician friends that he had been asked to organise the entertainment for the benefit.
"The question was posed to Mark 'why don't we get a band together for the benefit as it is a worthy cause'. So a few songs were thrown around and they sound remarkably good for the short time they all had to get together, as four of them are train drivers, scattered from Port Hedland, Horsham to Melbourne," Ms Holtham-Felini said.
Last Stand features Noel Taylor, Greg Radford, Tod Ahern, John Davey and Rick Balch.
The band is based in Horsham and has been playing all around Victoria for over 15 years with a few line-up changes. Their song list comprises of music from the 70s through to 2000s.
"They are great musicians and great guys to boot and never disappoint the crowd when or wherever they play," Ms Holtham-Felini said.
"When asked if they could play for the benefit, there was no hesitation to join the rest of the motley crew in support of some very special Ararat women."
In addition to a night full of good music, there will be a number of auction items up for grabs, including two nights' accommodation in a beautiful town house in Port Fairy, a personal training package, beauty packs, router, jewellery, food and clothing vouchers, a three way playground gym, sculpture, Intimo product gift vouchers, basket of Tupperware items and product vouchers and memorabilia, while there will also be a special lucky door prize
A return bus will be coming from Horsham, contact Mark Hughes for bookings on 0400 254 449.
There will be some tickets available at the door, but to save disappointment pre purchase them from Felini Health and Fitness, 2Taggs, the Courthouse Hotel and the Shire Hotel.
Ms Holtham-Felini said nearly everyone in the local community knows someone affected by breast cancer and urged everyone to don a 'touch of pink' and attend the ball to show their support for all the women out there currently battling the disease..
Rockers for Knockers will be held on Saturday night at the Ararat Performing Arts Centre with entry $30 per head (18 plus only).
