Sixteen year old Ms Hancock, who dances with Dynamic Dance in Ararat, will now work as an active wear model throughout 2014.
Fellow Dynamic Dance member Ellie Jeffery was also chosen as one of the six finalists out of the 150 entries received for the competition.
A spokesperson from Energetiks said all entrants had to send in an application and photographs and complete a questionnaire asking a variety of questions about their dance experience and aspirations for the future.
The six finalists came from across Australia and each won a hair and make-up session, dancers' prize pack plus a finalist photoshoot.
"I entered the Energetiks Model Search because my dance teacher, Laura Waters, suggested that myself and Ellie Jeffery, both having previous modelling experience, enter the competition," Ms Hancock said.
"Being one of the top Australian dancewear companies, it was so amazingly surprising to be originally picked to be in the final six along with Ellie, and we both went down to the finalists' shoot at the Energetiks headquaters in Melbourne.
"We had our hair and makeup professionally done and each of the six finalists modelled three outfits in front of the camera, and as a gift we got to take home one of the outfits.
"It was a real confidence builder and a fantastic experience to be a part of the day. It was even more surprising the following week, Energetiks announced that I had won the competition and would be modeling for them!"
Seventeen year old Ms Jeffery said she entered the competition because the brand was something she really believed in.
"I've done many shoots where I don't even know who the designer is. So it was amazing to model clothes you actually buy all the time!" she said.
"I believe every time I do a shoot I gain a little more insight into the industry and definitely more confidence. It was great to meet all the people behind such a wonderful brand."
Ms Jeffery said it was also great to share the experience with her friend.
"Sheridan looked so good in the shoot and she definitely suits the brand well!" she said.
"I'm so happy for her."
