At its last meeting, Ararat Rural City Council approved a motion to accept a planning permit for the subdivision of 'Omaroo' (Beautiful View) in Brewster Road.
Developers are now awaiting the issue of a permit following a period of time where no submissions of objection to the project had been received.
Land owner Ashley Heard said he was pleased to see things moving forward after several delays during the submission process.
"We are happy that Council have agreed to our proposal and that things can now move ahead," he said.
"The size of the lots will vary. I would suggest, and this is only an approximate at this stage, that they would be 950 square metres on average."
Applicant for the planning permit, Darren Ford from Ararat Survey Pty Ltd, initially applied for a permit for a 23 lot subdivision of the undeveloped residential land in Brewster Road, however that number had to be reduced to comply with Ararat Rural City planning standards.
Mr Heard said there were still some issues to work through before titles and pricing of the lots could be advertised.
"I'm unsure at this stage, we have got some conditions we still need to work out with Council, so we look forward to sitting down with them probably within the next week and work out those issues," he said.
"There are only three little issues that we have to confirm. It is nothing major and it will just be a matter of getting confirmation on them."
Mr Heard said the majority of the lots will be sold as house and land packages.
