Ararat Rural City Council chief executive Dr Tim Harrison stressed the importance of road projects to improve the safety and quality of the road network for the Ararat community.
"Roads are the lifelines for regional communities - we know widening Darlington-Nerrin Road to a double lane will have a direct impact for farmers, especially with heavy trucks and machinery," he said.
"Our region will benefit from the upgrade by being better connected to markets and communities with reduced travel times.
"The condition of our roads remain a high priority for ratepayers and council is continually planning for improvements across the municipality."
