Mr Jensen, who was born and bred in Ararat, has worked as a senior sales consultant for the last five years with Ararat Ballarat Real Estate, but decided it was time to make the move.
The lure of working for themselves and a new opportunity were behind the desire to pursue the change.
"We have bought the business from Greg and Kim (Kerr) and so now I'm the director of the company and my partner Emma has come on board to manage the office and the accounts," Mr Jensen said.
"The sole reason we decided to make the move is because we wanted to secure our own futures and be our own bosses."
READ MORE:
Mr Jensen has made the move after extensive experience in commercial real estate in Melbourne and residential real estate in Ballarat.
This experience and Mr Jensen's eye for the market also helped influence his decision to move to Nutrien Harcourts Ararat.
"We saw the growth Ararat has had in the last two or three years in particular, which has really given us confidence to buy more into the local economy and have our own business that is hopefully going to be successful," he said.
"We do have an exceptionally good property management part of the business and so we want to continue that and grow that as well.
"It is such a diverse market at the minute and what has changed is there was more sellers and than buyers, but since COVID-19 has come along we have more buyers than sellers, so there is a supply issue."
OTHER NEWS:
Mr Jensen said he was also particularly interested in moving into the farming sales market with Nutrien Harcourts Ararat.
"It is still going to be similar to the past, so connecting buyers to sellers is going to be the main thing," he said.
"We are keen to support local, but we also want to expand our reach further into the farm sales.
"And with the Nutrien branding we can have that further reach into the farming community and so we want to capitalise and get into that market."
