Ararat Bowls Club concluded its 2018 setsplay pairs competition at the weekend, with a local team coming out on top.

More than 100 bowlers had competed in qualifying rounds the previous weekend, with the final 16 teams competing in elimination competition on Saturday.
Chalambar’s Tony Carra and Jess Austin won $250 prizemoney each for winning the final of the competition, defeating Stawell’s Andrew Sharp and Brian Adamson. The final was decided in three sets.
“The whole tournament was a great competition to watch,” tournament organiser Stephen Walker said.
“We are looking forward to the tournament this time next year.”
Bowlers all the way from Melbourne right through to the South Australian border competed in the annual event.
The club was able to show off its new carpet green at the competition proving popular among all the bowlers.
The club is in the process of preparing for the upcoming pennant season which is fast approaching.
“We are starting to have a few little interclub games getting ready for pennant,” Walker said.
