It comes as the Ballarat Football League Youth Girls fixture has been released with the Ararat team set to play all of its home games in the region for the first time.

Six home games are scheduled for the Storm which will be played at the team’s training base at the Great Western Recreation Reserve.

It comes after the Storm hosted the majority of home games at the ground in 2017 but were still forced to play two home games in Ballarat.

The Storm’s first home game at Great Western will be a round two clash against Redan.

Consecutive home games for the team in rounds nine and 10 will be a highlight for the team with less travel required for those weeks.

With seven teams originally in the competition in 2018, two byes were scheduled for each team but East Point have recently pulled out of the competition meaning there will be no byes needed during the season.

The Ararat Storm has been the standout team in the past two years with the team looking for its third consecutive premiership this year. 

Storm coach Krystal Cameron was awarded a BFL coach of the year and spending time involved at the Rebels TAC Cup girls squad will no doubt have given her some ideas for the upcoming season.

The club will also have some new faces with some familiar ones moving on from the club for 2018.

Storm General Manager David Nicholson said there might be some changes to the location of home games but they will all be played in the Wimmera region.

“At the moment we are not committing where they are going to be,” he said.

“I would not mind spreading it around in different areas to let everyone have a look.

“We are having some meetings regarding it but it should all be sorted in the next few weeks.

“But overall we are really happy with the fixture and everything so far.

“We are looking forward to another big year ahead with more challenges on the field.”
