Association president Dave Turner said there were some special events held during the year that combined with some close matches made it a season to remember.
“Yeah pretty much, we had a few little issues and hiccups along the way there was partly our fault and partly weather which we cannot help,” he said.
“Losing a couple of grounds midway through the season didn’t help with fixturing either but we were able to overcome that and teams were accommodating of that.”
The Gordon Street and Pomonal ovals were unavailable for much of the season along with Aradale’s ground which was not up to a safe standard to use at senior level.
Turner also paid credit to the work done behind the scenes to ensure the ACA Masters game and 50th anniversary celebrations were a success.
“The Masters game was a pretty good success, we got a lot out of that and the 50th celebration was a huge night,” he said.
“To see so much history in the one room was sensational.
“Credit to Gary Cunningham and Joe Hannett with help from Henry Gunstone, Phil Rogers, Phil Hall, Peter Homden to organise it and make it the successful night it was.”
The GCA presentation night was originally scheduled for Thursday night but has been postponed until at least next week.
The association executives are having a meeting on Monday night where a final decision will be made about the date and location of the end of season awards night will be hosted.
