A social media statement on Sunday said the safety of the pupils was the number one priority.
“In order to minimise disruptions to educational programs, all students will be accommodated at Ararat College this week,” it said.
“Works to make the school safe commenced yesterday and are ongoing.
“The Victorian School Building Authority has reinstatement contractors ready to assess our site when it is deemed safe to do so.
“We are thankful for the outpouring of community support, kind words and generosity this weekend.
“We will continue to keep our school community informed to ensure the least disruption possible to students and families.”
With increased traffic at the college due to the school’s classes moved there, people will need to be mindful of younger children in the area.
“Parents can drop off and pick up their children at Ararat College in the morning and rural students coming on the bus will be met at the College bus stop,” the statement said.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage.
