UPDATE, 10.30pm
ONE person has died following a house fire at Willaura on Monday evening.
Ararat Crime Investigation Unit detectives are currently at the scene of a fatal house fire which occurred in Willaura earlier this evening.
Emergency services were notified of the fire at a residential home on Commercial St just before 6pm.
The fire, which caused extensive damage, was brought under control by Country Fire Authority firefighters.
A search of the premises resulted in firefighters locating a body amongst the debris.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire and are also trying to confirm the identity of the deceased person.
An arson chemist will attend the scene in an attempt to ascertain how the fire started.

AT LEAST one person has died as a result of a house fire in Willaura on Monday evening.
Police were still on scene at a Commercial Street, Willaura property as of 8pm on Monday.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said police had concerns for the occupants after a person was located deceased inside the property.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 5.23pm on Monday with at least three fire fighting appliances attending the incident.
The incident was listed as safe at 7.23pm.
Ararat police have requested assistance from the State Emergency Service.
