The one-act plays were written by either established playwrights or emerging new writers, directors or community theatre companies or groups.
The competitors gave it their all on stage at Gorrin House in Ararat.
The festival was a wonderful day of community theatre with some great plays from Ararat Theatre Company, Dizzy Productions, Mount Players, Kathy’s Theatre Company, Gemco Players and more.
With a $1600 prize pool, the festival hosted by Ararat Theatre Company was a hotly contested competition.
The plays were judged by independent adjudicator Don MacKay with an awards presentation held at the end of the festival after the last play.
Results:
- BEST PLAY: All His Christmases At Once by Mount Players
- 2nd BEST PLAY: Gate by Ararat Theatre Company
- 3rd BEST PLAY: I Dream Before I Take The Stand by Gemco Players
- BEST COMEDY: All his Christmases at Once by Mount Players (this play won 2 awards.)
- 2nd BEST COMEDY: Just Below The Surface by Ararat Theatre Company
- BEST DIRECTOR: Sharon Maine/ Gemco Players
- BEST ACTOR: David Coonan/ Gemco Players
- BEST ACTRESS: Roxine Perry/ Mount players
- BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR/ACTRESS: Ingrid Gang/Mount Players
- ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD: Jonah Wateley/Ararat Theatre Company
