Ararat artist and sculptor Tianee Hurst has just completed nearly 100 hours of work to produce a mural in in the medical centre’s nursing department.
Practice Manager Garry Hurst said that Mrs Hurst had been busy working on the art piece in Cubicle 2 to further add to the centre’s artwork in patient waiting rooms and corridors.
A number were completed by retired doctor and artist, Dr. Graeme Bertuch and his artist wife Carolyn Thomas.
Garry said this latest work was designed to capture the attention of children, particularly when coming in for immunisations.
Nurse Unit Manager, Mrs Vicki Parsons said that the work was fabulous.
“It will certainly give our patients something to focus on, particularly when they don’t feel well,” she said.
Mrs Parsons said there were 10 animals to locate in the mural, some easy to find but others a little bit harder.
Mrs Hurst used two weeks of her annual leave to paint the wall at the clinic and said she was very pleased with the results.
Mrs Hurst studied at the North Adelaide School of Arts in South Australia and says her favourite medium is sculpting, particularly with limestone.
She also created a large limestone sculpture for Melaleuca Park in Mount Gambier.
Patients are welcome to call in to the medical centre and have a look at the new artwork.
