The Commissioners have continued to invite input from members of the Ararat community.
Gum San Great Hall is located on the second storey of the Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre.
Commissioners Frances O’Brien QC, John Tanner AM and Mark Davies are conducting the inquiry into the Council’s governance processes in the development of its rating strategy and budget for the 2017-18 financial year, including its consultative processes with the local community.
It will also evaluate the ongoing capacity of the Ararat Rural City Council’s senior administration to deliver good governance for the Council and local community.
As part of the inquiry, a series of private and public meetings will be held over the next fortnight to hear from Ararat citizens.
Public hearings are scheduled for Wednesday July 12 between 11am and 1.30pm and also from 2.30pm until 7pm at the Gum San Great Hall, 31 – 33 Lambert Street, Ararat.
Attendance at the public hearing is on a ‘drop in’ basis during the scheduled times.
Private appointments are by appointment only.
To meet with the Commission privately, please call Kathy Pryor on 0427 400 207 or email at Ararat.Inquiry@delwp.vic.gov.au.
Additional hearing times will be scheduled if deemed necessary.
Ararat Rural City councillors voted late last month to wait for the inquiry to hand down its report before considering whether or not to adopt the rating strategy.
