Willaura Cup day is one of only two feature race days the club hosts with the $11,000 Willaura Cup the main race of the meet.
Club manager Adam Atchison said preparations had been adjusted with the recent rain.
"This rain has come down pretty hard last week and this week,” he said.
"We have had 53mm in the last week, so we have not watered the track for three weeks and we do not want any more.”
The Kilmore meet was abandoned on Thursday, which has had a flow on effect to the meet in Ararat.
Atchison said there were 12 or more runners in each of the seven races scheduled.
”The Willaura Cup field has been expanded after the abandonment of Kilmore,” he said.
“Stawell trainer Terry O’Sullivan has two horses in the cup with Vatiaz and Melaleuca entered into the race.”
Vatiaz has won its last two starts at Terang and Warracknabeal, and will be one of the ones to beat.
In terms of action off the track, there will be free kids activities at the track.
Atchison said with nice weather expected, it was a cheap family outing.
“If you go online, you can get a free general admission ticket and a lot of people have already taken that up,” he said.
"We are hoping to get towards a thousand people with the good weather which will be a good result.”
Atchison said the turf club would also host the Willaura Lions Club for the day.
“The Willaura Lions Club biggest barbecue will be part of the day, raising money for the Lions Club Cancer Research Foundation,” he said.
“So that will be great for them and the community as well.
“So come along, all the activities and racing will make for a cheap day out,” Atchison said.
Gates will open at 11am with the first race scheduled for 1pm.
