In one weekend, there were two music festivals – one at Moyston and one at St Arnaud – which brought more than 10,000 people to the region.
The fun continues this week with another weekend packed full of events.
For the 89th time the annual Moyston Sheep Dog Trials drew competitors to the Grampians town.
It is the oldest sheep dog competition in the state.
In Ararat, the Jailhouse Rock Festival returns for the weekend, with more than 1000 people expected to pack into Alexandra Oval for the event, which is more than 23 years old and continues to celebrate the iconic 1950’s rock ‘n’ roll music and fashion scene.
Earlier this month the inaugural Grampians Music Festival, hosting some of the top up and coming Australian artists, drew more than 400 people to Halls Gap.
The string of new and old events across the summer shows the Grampians region, Stawell and Ararat still have a huge calendar of exciting entertainment on offer for visitors to the region.
There is also lots more to come.
The renowned Grampians Grape Escape is nearing, with the region’s wineries ready to celebrate the wonderful products they have to offer.
Grampians and Pyrenees growers produce some of the nation’s best vintages and they will be on show during the big event.
There also more new events for residents to keep an eye on as autumn progresses.
For the first time Good Friday footy and netball has been scheduled for the region.
The Stawell Warriors and Ararat Rats will go head-to-head in the Wimmera Football League season opener at Stawell’s Central Park in round one.
It will be the first of a big weekend of events for the Northern Grampians Shire.
The Great Western Rodeo, Stawell Cup and of course, Australia’s richest footrace – the Stawell Gift – are part of the packed weekend of sporting opportunities.
The Grampians region has shown it is alive and well when it comes to arts, music and sporting events this summer.
Hotels and caravan parks are full with rooms hard to come by, proving the region has worked hard to make the summer tourist season a success.
