The A Grade grand final between Willaura and Ararat White finished in a tie to share the Mininera and District Tennis Association junior title on Saturday.

Both teams held serve in the first set until Willaura faulted allowing Ararat White to break serve then hold their own to win the first set 6-4.
The second set also went Ararat’s way 6-3 to put pressure on Willaura.
Nick and Toby Vallance won the third set 6-4 and Scott and Erica Evans back it up in the fourth set with a 6-3 win to leave the two teams tied with two sets 19 games each.
It is the first time a grand final had been drawn in the junior competition.
Buangor defeated Ararat Red in the B Grade title after the Red team’s Nathaniel Kuchel was forced to retire hurt which made it hard for Ararat.
In the final match of the morning Tatyoon got off to a strong start winning the opening two sets against Moyston in the C Grade decider
Moyston fought back strongly in the final set with Alex Fraser and Matilda Hope winning the set 6-2 from Will Laurie and James Carter.
Tatyoon already had an unassailable lead winning 3 sets 20 games to 1 set 13 games.
At the conclusion of the matches presentations were made of medallions to the winning players.
Organiser of the competition Mrs Leesa McInnes said it was a successful junior season.
“The standard of tennis just keeps improving each year as the children’s skill levels improve on the court,” she said.
