The Blue team fell behind early in the match but finished the match off strongly to end up 69 shots to 65 winners.
The Gold team got off to a strong start with a narrow lead in the first rink.
Ellen Werry’s team continued its form and finished the 11 shots clear in the 26-15 win against Kerry West’s quartet.
A lead after the first rink gave the Gold team a boost in confidence but it was short lived with Angela Hodgetts shifting the momentum back to the Blue team in the second rink against Joy Seeary.
Norm Brimfield, Bob Cashin, Marg Puddy and Hodgetts combined to win build a lead which they extended to 10 shots by the end of the rink.
Both teams had won a rink each but Gold had a one-shot advantage going into the final rink of the season.
The third rink started with neither team getting out to a significant advantage early.
Both teams settled into a rhythm before the Blue team started to make its move and from there they were not going to be denied.
It was Rita Pyke who claimed the honours along with Adrian Troeth, Robin Austerberry and Pam Eckel after the team finished five shots slear of Ion McDonald, Don Austerberry, Judi Fenwick and Denise Troeth to the 2016-17 season premiership.
West said the team was very happy with the win.
“It is always hard to play against teammates but it was a close game in the end.
“Rita’s team was fairly consistent, our rink dropped off after lunch but were lucky Angela’s rink was able to recover to get us back in the game.”
The win caps off a strong season from the club.
West said the face both Stawell teams made the final showed how even the competition was.
“For four shots to separate the two teams over a full pennant season just shows how the selection committee did a wonderful job to make it even across both teams,” she said.
“Both teams went out for dinner on Monday night to celebrate the achievement.”
The club will send a team to the regional pennant finals to compete against the winners of the Wimmera, North Wimmera and North Central divisions on March 9.
