Student Kate Ryan said about 20 students had completed the two-year course through the university. “A lot of the students have kids, so to be able to study locally was really convenient,” she said.
Ms Ryan said students had completed subjects on physiology, anatomy, medications and research.
“Some students have successfully gained graduate year positions with Wimmera Health Care Group, while others have secured other local employment or are continuing their studies in areas such as registered nursing, midwifery and paramedical science,” she said.
Federation University has announced it will offer certificate III in individual support and the diploma of nursing course at the Wimmera campus next year. “Strong interest has been shown from local employers for these new programs,” education manager Tara Haneveld said.
