IT’s back and even bigger in 2016.
Ararat’s annual late night Christmas shopping festivities will be held on Friday, December 2, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
More than 45 businesses will be participating in the shopping event, organised by the Ararat Regional Business Association (ARBA).
ARBA president Jodie-Lee Wells said she hoped local people would take the opportunity to look at what was on offer in Ararat’s shops this season.
“It is important for locals to support local business; it generates income and employment for the area,” she said.
“Ararat is fortunate to have so many shops that allow us to get what we need for gifts, even for the fussy people we have to buy for.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to see what is on offer right here.”

Ararat’s central business district will be alive with Christmas excitement and cheer, with face painting, a sausage sizzle, train rides, fairy floss and more.
The action will be centred around the Town Hall precinct, with plenty of attractions continuing up and down Barkly Street.
There will also be some special visitors: Some friendly reptiles from Halls Gap Zoo and, of course, from the king of the Christmas season, Santa Claus.
As well as Ararat businesses, the event has drawn in some of the district’s producers based outside the town. Mountainside Wines from Warracknabeal will be setting up a table offering their wares, as will Red Rock Olives.
A live band will be in action outside Fred and Bet’s Cafe. People are encouraged to come along and listen to the tunes and kick back after a Friday evening’s shopping spree.
Shoppers who spend more than $20 at one of the participating businesses will get an entry into a draw to win a $50 voucher. The winner will be drawn on Saturday, December 3.
Among the festive atmosphere, with plenty of entertainments on offer to keep the children in the family entertained, there will be plenty of specials on offer.
It will be the perfect opportunity to cross all the items off the Christmas shopping list in a friendly, festive atmosphere at Ararat.
Find the perfect something for that special someone and support your local businesses, starting today with late night shopping.
