Gasons’ Andy Tucker and Marx Metal’s Michael Hope slogged it out on court one in a highly entertaining contest.
Two of their sets were tied six all.
However the deadlock was finally broken when Chris Hartwich and Simon Hogan came home 7-5 in a tight finish for Marx Metal.
GME and Mitre 10 had a mighty battle before GME prevailed by a single game.
Geoff White filled in for an injured Ross McGregor who mistakenly thought he could take on a rebellious ram.
White had a good battle against Josh Matthews with both players claiming sets in their own right.
Archie Conboy proved the key player as he won two sets as well as drawing a set.
Andy Kalluri acquitted himself well in his new position of number three for.
It will be interesting to see if the selectors take note of his performance.
Rural Steel won their first set 9-5 against Signtek's Greg McInnes and Tom Guthrie.
Nick Bush and Wayne Gason combined well with Bush's sharp volleys and Gason's unexpected sideline shots combining as a good combination.
This however was the end of the line as Signtek's Alby Vallance and evergreen Phil Hartwich hit back with an 8-4 set win.
Vallance continued his form over the next two sets to see Signtek home by 14 games.
Mike Connellan and Shaun Allen set Fosters Mensland on the right path with a 9-4 in the first set.
Connellan's thundering drives worked well with Allen's ability to cover three quarters of the net.
John Hannett and Alex Drosg came back well in the third set to prove too consistent and claimed the 7-5 win.
For Ricky Ralph, Wonki Noh made an impressive debut for his team especially with his sharp volleys at the net.
Next week’s round of matches will bring the end of the 8pm game with Tucker's team playing John Hannett's team at 5.30pm instead.
GME, McDonald's and Signtek are all still unbeaten and have a nice buffer to the next group of teams on the ladder. The latter two will square off on centre court.
