Parks Victoria and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning said, weather permitting, a burn would ignite on Wednesday at noon and continue until 6pm next Wednesday.
The burn plans to cover 1833 hectares and will ignite 14 kilometres south-west of Halls Gap.
The department advised smoke could be visible in Glenisla, Zumsteins and the Grampians National Park.
The Country Fire Authority is working with the departments to reduce the risk of bushfire this coming fire season.
Parks Victoria advises people to stay away from areas where burns are planned or places recently burnt.
Parks advised people to be careful on the roads and aware of potentially lowered visibility and changed signed conditions.
Nearby residents should close all doors and windows and avoid hanging washing outside.
Access to walking tracks, car parks, camping ground and picnic sites may be restricted.
The Department of Health advises people that suffer adverse reactions to seek medical advice or call 1300 606 024.
