Kindergarten teacher Melissa Spiller said the kindergarten wanted to have its own little celebration that would also tie in with its special person day on Thursday.
“Special person day gets the children to bring a special person in their life to play some games and take part in activities,” she said.
“It was to get a bit of community engagement with the kindergarten and get parents, grandparents or any other special person to engage with the children in their own environment.
“It was about sharing with children.”
The mini Olympics included a relay, and obstacle course and a three legged race.
“Everyone received a gold medal at the end, which the children made themselves,” Mrs Spiller said.
“Everyone felt pleased with themselves at the end of the day.
“After the Olympics were over, everyone played games and sang songs before we had party.”
Mrs Spiller said the day was fantastic.
“It was an uplifting and positive day,” she said.
“The teachers had the chance to meet family members that we hadn’t seen before. The children all showed a sense of pride to the family members.”
The children was gifted a perfect day on Thursday but had to make last minutes changes to the second round of the mini Olympics on the Friday because of rain.
“We adapted the Olympics to gymnastics inside,” Mrs Spiller said.
