The Lakers battled hard but Laharum proved too strong recording a 23.9(147)-10.9(69) victory.
“I was pretty pleased with the way we went. We let Laharum get out of the box early which set up a pretty big lead,” Eastwell said.
“That put the game out of contention from a winning perspective.
“When your side is staring down the barrel of a nine goal deficit at quarter time you can be fearful you are going to get blown out of the water by 30 goals but that didn’t happen.
“We fought our way back into the game in the second and third quarter despite little impact on the scoreboard.”
Eastwell said he was particularly proud of his teams final quarter performance.
“To our guys credit we were able to finish off kicking six goals to Laharum’s five.
“We played some really good footy against a quality side which is really pleasing for the positivity of the club.
“The things we’ve spent all year speaking about happened in that final quarter.
“It really reinforces the points we’ve been making all year and helps the players realise what they can achieve if they play an attacking brand of footy with a defensive mindset.”
Patrick Purcell was a standout for the side as well as Deek Roberts.
“I’m rapt with Pat, he had a brilliant game and Deek is a magnificent footballer,” Eastwell said.
The Lakers had last minute injuries and illnesses which saw a number of reserves players join the side including Kade Bergen who stepped it up in the ruck.
Angus Martin, Shannon Argall and Jason Przibilla, who kicked nine goals, were Laharum standouts.
