WARRACK Eagles have held off the spirited Dimboola Roos to launch into poll position in the race for fifth spot as the Wimmera Football League nears the end of the 2016 season.

The final scoreboard read 12.12 (84) to 7.17 (59).
Dimboola made clear its intentions to cause an upset early in the game as the side started the game quicker.
At quarter time the underdogs held a narrow four-point lead.
Dimboola coach Hamish Exell said his side had made a concerted effort over recent weeks to start games better.
“They jumped us last time we played,” he said.
“Over the past month and a half we have been focusing on our preparation before the games.”
The Roos continued to fight for the whole game but in the end it was the Eagles who just managed to be more clinical.
“It came down to execution in front of goals and around the field,” Exell said.
“Warrack’s pressure had us making mistakes that they didn’t make.
“We probably had the ball in our half of the ground for over 50-percent of the game.”
It is the second week in a row Dimboola players have been left to rue miss opportunities.
In round 14 the side went down to seventh placed Ararat by 26 points despite having only one less scoring shot.
He said he winning is still the ultimate goal for the Roos but he was happy his side didn’t rollover.
“I think it was a really competitive game of footy,” he said.
“It’s been a pretty long season but it probably goes to show we’re within three or four goals of everybody else,” he said.
“The top three have a bit more of a gap.”
The win saw the Eagles take fifth spot on the ladder outright following Nhill’s loss against Stawell.
The Eagles will play Nhill in the final round in a virtual elimination final.
Due to Nhill’s superior percentage the winner will live to play another day while the season will be over for the loser.
Dimboola will be keen to turn around the round 14 result when it faces Ararat who are now out of the finals race.
