Originally intended to be a reunion of the classes of 1956/57, due to the interest shown in the Stawell Technical School/Stawell High School reunion the organisers have decided to throw the Ararat reunion open to anyone who would like to attend, students or teachers.
The Ararat High School will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year.
The reunion will be held on the weekend of November 3 and 4 and will kick off with a meet and greet at the school at 9am in the gym followed by a tour of the school at 10am and a chance to look at all the old school photos and memorabilia, much of which will be supplied by the Langi Morgala Museum.
One of the organisers Gwenda Allgood said the Museum has unearthed some fascinating history of the school.
"The high school started off as a flour mill and then part of it burnt down and this was then turned into the high school," Mrs Allgood said.
"Some of the history is just fascinating."
A barbecue lunch will be supplied by Ararat Rotary and then there will be the opportunity for visitors from out of town to visit some of the region's attractions.
Everyone will then gather for dinner (at a venue yet to be decided) and the following day there will be a chance to catch up over lunch at the home of former students Gwenda and Morrie Allgood. For further information, contact the Allgoods on 5352 1156.
