The finishing touches are being put on plans for the $154,000 shed, which will meet the group’s future needs.
The relocation is only possible through $94,000 from the Ararat Rural City Council and $60,000 from the state government.
Ararat mayor Paul Hooper said the project would go out to tender later this month.
“The boys are pretty excited to see the shed site pegged out ready to start construction for its new home at Kokoda Park,” he said.
“The shed will include a workshop space as well as spaces for gathering, meal preparation and shared community group use.
“Once the plans are completed we will make them available to all residents.”
The Men’s Shed movement has grown rapidly in the last decade, with more than 900 operating across the country. In addition to community work, sheds also encourage discussion about men’s health issues.
