We dance to 50s style rock and roll music so anyone who might enjoy dancing to that is welcome
- Amanda Webb
The group meets every second Thursday for a 1950s style rock and roll dance at the Senior Citizen’s Hall on Barkly Street.
Organiser Amanda Webb said people from Ararat and outside of the city were welcome every fortnight.
“There are about 20 to 30 members in the group,” she said.
“Sometimes we get people from outside Ararat as well.”
“We dance to 50’s style rock and roll music so anyone who might enjoy dancing to that is welcome.”
Each session begins with beginner lessons at 7pm.
It is followed by a social dance at 7.30pm.
Miss Webb said dancers did not need to bring a partner.
“It is just a social dance where we all like to have a boogie," she said.
“It is fun and good exercise for anyone who enjoys rock and roll.”
Miss Webb said the were currently more woman than men at each session.
“We need more blokes because the ratio is out and we have lots of women,” she said.
Miss Webb said anyone wishing to join the Rockers could contact Pauline Jenkins on 0427 523 414.
