The Grampians Regional Strategy – Communities of Respect and Equality aims to promote gender equality and denounce violence against women in Wimmera and Grampians communities.
Women’s Health Grampians has developed the strategy in the past few years with Wimmera councils and other organisations including Wimmera Uniting Care, Wimmera Primary Care Partnership, and Grampians Community Health.
Former assistant police commissioner, family violence advocate and Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission consultant Leigh Gassner will be the guest speaker at the launch.
A panel discussion will follow involving Yarriambiack Shire Council Mayor Ray Kingston and Wimmera Uniting Care chief executive Wendy Sturgess.
Regional Development Minister Jaala Pulford will launch the plan in Ballarat on May 30.
Organisers said people could call Women’s Health Grampians on 5322 4100 for more information.
