NOT only was 1966 the year St Kilda won a flag, it was also the year Buangor Football Club was disbanded.

Fast forward 50 years, and the small town is set to see the Sherrin make a return – albeit on a smaller scale in the form of an Auskick program.
With a growing population of kids in Buangor and the surrounding area, Auskick will commence at Des Brennan Park on May 26 with sessions every Thursday afternoon from 4 pm.
Boys and girls from Ararat, Beaufort and beyond are welcome to join in the fun. The Thursday afternoon program is an excellent alternative for parents wishing to free up Friday nights and weekends. Tea will also be taken care of with a barbecue, refreshments and a sausage sizzle held each week.
Ultimately, the long term plan is to field junior and senior Buangor teams in local football competitions and utilise the excellent facilities at the Buangor Community Sports Centre and the adjacent historic Cobb and Co changing station and function centre.
From little things, big things grow.
For more information, please contact Buangor Auskick co-ordinator Brett Chamings on 0434 699 589 or visit the Buangor Footy Facebook page.
Parents can register their children in the program via www.aflauskick.com.au.
