Halls Gap looms as a dangerous opponent in A grade cricket, having won its past four matches while Tatyoon’s position in the Association top four is under threat from several teams, including its opponents.
Andrew Ward and Jarrod Blandford lead the Tatyoon batting charge, with assistance from Andrew McDougall, while bowlers Joshua Byron and Michael Harricks will be keen to take early wickets. Damon Folkes, Sean Mantell and Shane Spriggs have been in solid form lately and if they produce enough runs for Halls Gap to claim a win, the team can be true top four contenders.
Buangor looks likely to continue on its winning way this weekend. It plays host to Chalambar at Alexandra Oval, who put on an underwhelming performance against Halls Gap in round 10.
Harry and Jack Ganley hold the key to a Buangor victory, although Paul Ganley and Jim Fraser proved they were more than handy with the bat last weekend while Chris Jerram was lethal with the ball.
Jerram and the Ganleys will test the likes of Alex Rodgers, Ryan Bertram and Shaun Smith while Chalambar bowlers Brett Crone (who claimed five wickets last weekend) and Josh Bywaters are also going to be challanged.
It is set to be an interesting contest at Gordon Street on Saturday with St Andrews going head-to-head with Aradale.
The Saints are among a host of teams eyeing a top four position and they will be full of confidence following a win last weekend. On the other hand, Aradale is looking to bounce back from a loss to Swifts/Great Western.
For the Saints, Jake Robinson, Adam Haslett and Luke Robinson are in fine form with the bat and they won’t make it easy for Aradale bowlers Brent Tate, Brody Taylor and Eyan Habib.
Tom Williamson was Aradale’s top scorer against the Combine and he should keep the runs coming with help from the middle order including Tate, Riley Wood and Mitchell Wood.
Meanwhile, Youth Club has the daunting task of facing ladder leaders Swifts/Great Western at Central Park.
The Combine should prove too strong with batsmen Rick Peters, Tom Fitzgerald and James Devery combining to post plenty of runs over the past month.
