Zacharie Dunks on guitar and vocals, Angus McMillan also on guitar and vocals, Gerard May on bass and Aaryn Dunks on drums will take to the stage for the grand final of the FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands with the winner given a helping hand to superstardom.
The winner will receive the ultimate kick-start prize pack including a recording session, pressing of 500 copies of their recording, marketing and publicity support, clothing, band supplies and more.
The young band members, who have been playing together for about three years, said they are nervous but pumped about the biggest gig of their short career.
Zacharie said to get to the grand final, Requiem competed at Battle of the Bands competitions in Horsham and Mildura - winning both with glowing praise.
"The judges' feedback has been awesome," he said.
"From Horsham we got pretty much just positive reviews from the judges and the things that they did have to say we worked on. When I got the feedback back from Mildura last week there was nothing they could fault, which I guess means we are doing something right.
"We have a 20 minute set list for Moomba, building on the 10 minutes at Horsham and 15 minutes at Mildura.
"There is a big range we are up against, I don't think any of the other bands are doing the heavy metal stuff at Moomba. At all the other competitions there has been a variety of genres from Indie pop to Christian rock."
The state-wide competition gives young and emerging musicians from around Victoria the chance to perform, gain local exposure and win an ultimate prize that includes a recording session, as well as marketing and publicity support.
Aaryn said their band has played shows to packed houses in Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as a couple of big festival gigs in Bendigo and Geelong, but with the Moomba Festival attracting up to one million people over the course of the weekend they are expecting this to be nothing like they've experienced before.
"Even if we don't win, it is going to be great exposure," he said.
The FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands grand final will be held tomorrow from 1pm on the banks of the Yarra River near Swan Street Bridge, with the winner announced at 5.45pm.
If Requiem's name is read out at that time, Gerard said who knows what might be next for the band.
"We want to take this as far as we can - To the top and all over the world would be good," he said.
